A guy near me is selling a 2000 Challenger 1800 with low hours. I don't know what the actual hours are. He is listing the following items as options that raise the price from the base NADA book value of $6530. Can you tell me if these items are options or stock items:

Boat Cover $135
Stereo - AM/FM CD player with 4 speakers $300
Swim Step with fold down ladder $240
Carburetion kit $170
Stainless steel impeller $135

I have not looked at the boat yet but from the pictures, it is in excellent cosmetic condition. What do you think would be a fair price?

Hi There

The price thats being asked for the challenger isn't bad at all. I just picked up a 2000 challenger 1800 for 7000 including the trailer. It came with the a stock boat cover and all the stock goodies. Radio, ladder, swim dock etc. I'm new to the world of seadoo but i did my home work and like that model. Is it a 6 cyl merc or other ? :)

Have you have the boat on the water yet? If so, how is the acceleration, top speed and responsiveness? I tested a 97 Challenger 1800 today with the two 787 engines and was not that impressed compared to my 97 Yamaha Exciter. The acceleration and top speed was not as good as mine and when you turned the wheel, there seemed to be a lot of resistance compared to mine. The turns were very wide. On my Yamaha, my wheel is very easy to turn and the boat can turn on a dime. I'd be interested to know how your boat reacts. I'm not sure if that is normally how the Challenger is or if there was just a problem with the one I tested.

I've had in the water a few times already. Mine is running the 210hp carburated Merc. She does does well in the no wake areas as soon as i clear the response to the throttle is great. I bring her up to 30 easily and crank it all the way forward in a heart beat. Steering response is great there is a slight amount of stiffnes but i guess thats due to maintaining control. I've been very happy with her. Just making minor fixes and mods to suit my needs.
