Hello,
I have a 2000 Sea-Doo 800 GTX Mellenium Edition. I was on the river and the craft all of a sudden shut down. I swam back to shore with it and found the craft to not have spark. It DOES turn over, smell gas but NO SPARK. I grounded the spark plugs to see if there was any spark and nothing happened. What could this problem be?

1. IT DOES TURN OVER
2. IT IS GETTING FUEL

Thank you for your time!

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

The first thing I would do is remove the spark plug boots, clip about 1/4" off the end of the wires, and twist the spark plug boots back on. Probably not going to fix it but it's easy and it's free.

Next thing, remove the top of the rear electrical box, you'll see the coil, remove the white wire at the coil, ground the spark plugs, attach a test light, or voltmeter to the white wire, turn over the engine the light should go on and off. If it lights it's your coil, if it doesn't it's the pickup inside the mag. cover.

Correction:

A friend (Griz), just informed me that this ski if a RFI, and it doesn't have a magnetic pickup it has a crank sensor. So troubleshooting should be the same, if it fails the test the problem will be the crank sensor. Parts 48 & 49.
