I bought a used 1999 GTX RFI 787 about a year ago that I am having trouble with and figured I would give this a shot.

On the first start of the day, it will start immediately and run great for as long as I want. It has never turned off on its own while running. However, after about 20 minutes of running, if I turn it off, it won't restart. It will turn over fine, just no start. Occasionally it shows the high temp warning on the LCD display while I'm trying to restart it. The starter sounds strong when it's trying to start, so I assume it's not a heat soaked starter (I read that could be a potential cause). The cooling port on the back does spit water when it's running.

Does anyone have any idea where to go from here? I would really appreciate any advice you may have.
Thanks from a noobie to the forum.

I've helped someone work on a GTI RFI LE with the same issue - changed the started relay, checked grounds, cleaned rave valves, new battery, checked/cleaned lanyard/key post and still the same. I'm thinking its flooding and new fuel injectors will be installed before next summer. Checking fuel pressure will be done as well.

If it’s not flowing water your overheating. You really need to get that resolved first.

"The cooling port on the back does spit water when it's running." Sorry if my wording is a little funny, it flows water just fine. That certainly would be a problem though.

That's an interesting theory. I'll go run it around soon, wait for the no start and then check the plugs. Does anyone happen to know what the fuel pressure should be? I've got a pressure tester.
