most generally the inline filters you buy are dispossable and don't come apart. You can buy fuel hose from any auto parts store. Try the bypass trick first but if you have the gray tempo hoses on your ski you should change those as well.

use the existing fuel line, from inline filter to carb. Remove it from the filter, and install it to the fitting, off the tank, that says "res". then leave the fuel switch to off.

Ok, well, got the new fuel filter on last night, and ran on RES. No real change. 6300 RPM (more than 6,000, right?)

So, if I want to replace the fuel lines, I've read I need 1/4 or 5/16

1/4 is the closest to 6mm

5/16 is closest to 8mm

how many feet of either or both do I need for a '99 GTX LTD?

First I think I just want to run from the tank to the fuel filter, then from fuel filter to engine, I think that's all the 8mm stuff right? then the 6mm stuff is between the carbs only? really short? like 2' of material?

You say you ran on reserve. Does that mean you still used the Selector and just bypassed the oem filter?

Last night I had no new hoses, so I bypassed nothing.

The filter was new however (new housing and everything)

I will get hoses tonight and replace all of them if I know how many feet of each size to get...

You can try what Seadoya recommended above. Pull the hose and run it direct to try it. If your hoses are gray you should change them. If they aren't bad they will be. I bought 20' of 5/16" and 5' of 1/4".

Yes, the fuel lines are the grey stuff, which is why I wanted to go w/new stuff. It's 11 years old. I can't tell if it's the problem, but while I'm replacing it, it will eliminate the fuel lines as a possible issue. I will also bypass the fuel selector (hopefully) tonight.

I will get 20' of 5/16 and 5' of 1/4 tonight...

while working on the lines, I noticed the check valve under the engine, and pulled it off the engine. The line going TO the check valve (which runs the RAVEs) has a 1 cm crack in it. I replaced the 6mm air hose (plastic) with 1/4" (6mm) fuel line as that's what I had on me at the time...

Still can't break 6,200 RPM (we are getting closer)!!!! only 800 RPM to go.

SO, I ordered new 6mm line (plastic) $5.00, new check valve $10, and new 4.3mm line from the dealer, should come in Tuesday. I blew air (from my mouth lol) from the selenoid down to the check valve, and it appears to be leaking, either the line or the valve, so hopefully this is it.

I will also work on replacing the remaining lines when I can, however the ones between the carbs that are directly under the exhaust... may have to wait, as those look like a real PITA.
