Carbs were rebuilt by the dealership, fuel lines replaced, tank clean. I have about 1/2" throttle cable play. Ski runs fine except it knocks off idling in no wake zones. If I hit it WOT from dead stop it bogg's and through feathering the throttle can be cleaned out, but if I give it enough throttle to get to moving and then hit it WOT it gets up and goes but maxes out at 6200 rpm. Crushing around 3k rpm there's a small sputter and like I said before I'm only maxing out at 6200 rpm. I just had a starter put on it because I didn't what to pull the engine myself. My question what could be the most likely culprit? Low speed screw, throttle cable adjustment carbs not opening all the way it runs I don't want to do more harm than good mid riding season if possible because I'd have no luck if it wasn't for bad luck. And advice is greatly appreciated thx.

First thing I'd do is adjust the throttle cable and new spark plugs. :)

Throttle cable should have a small amount of play about 1/8" That might be your top RPM issue. Be careful not to adjust it too tight. If you are running the ski in the driveway, which I wouldn't they can run away quickly. Pull the choke out if that happens.

Once you adjust the throttle cable you'll need to look at the OIL PUMP marks and realign them accordingly.

There is a possibility the accelerator pump isn't primed or one of the nozzles is plugged. for me it takes a few minutes to get the accelerator pump system primed and working properly. Get the ski too about 3K RPM and pump the throttle fully a few times but don't let the ski accelerate much. Go back down to idle then apply throttle. If it got better, do that a few more times. It will help prime the system.

I always check compression first. It stops me from chasing ghosts. Good Luck !

OK thanks I will check it out this weekend. I rode it for a few hours last weekend and changed the plugs around mid day that helped with the sputter a little. Would the accelerator pump still need priming after riding it for hours?

If the pump or lines have issues or you have a plugged nozzle it won't heal itself. I was reading last night about pressure testing the components. I might give that a shot. I'm just finishing up rebuilding a set of 951 carbs today.

Also make sure the battery is fully charged and load tested,,,to check the accelerator fittings,,,drop back the air box,,,or remove it,,,get a rectangular mirror,,,that will fit above the carb intake,,,and pull the throttle,,,you should be able to see the fuel squirting, ,your bog sounds like it is a rich bog,,,maybe the carb rebuilders made an error,,,you could have a leaking needle and seat,,,maybe the popoff is too low,,,super low,,,but E is correct,,,the loose cable will create problems,,,at idle and WOT.

New battery, yes I see the fuel squirting but it seems like it is squirting right where the line and fitting connect. So is that a crack in the line at the fitting or is it supposed to squirt fuel there? it doesn't seem to be doing it while it is running though. The plugs helped it was maxing out at around 6600 yesterday and the bog doesn't seem to be as bad if I'm running around 1/4 throttle and then I hit it WOT.

it's definitely a crack at the fitting I should have time to get a new pc of fuel line tomorrow thx hopefully that clears up the last little sputter
