Hey Guys/Gals

Can someone who me a picture of the idle adjustment screw is - I got the doo on the water and I can only start it and keep it running WOT I'm assuming two things one the injectors are gummed up and two the idle is too low? anyone know the RPM it should idle at?

thanks for your reply.. Do you think in your opion that BAD gas would allow it to run at WOT and die when throttle released... someone suggested they don't think it's the idle or TPS but the carb needing to be cleaned??

I recently had my fuel lines replaced/carb cleaned and I still have this issue. If I slightly hold the throttle tighter it's fine, leading me to believe the screw needs tightened.

Well, if it is a 1999 GTX 800 then it is a fuel injected ski and doesn't have carbs. IF the gas is really old then I would change it and install new spark plugs and try again.

I dont believe its anything major because it runs perfect full throttle... but hard time starting it and it womt idle... any input would be appreciated

I just told you, it's the TPS setting that has to be set with a CanDo Pro scanner. If you have verified that you actually have a 1999 GTX RFI, that is what controls the idle.

Ok I bought one (candoo scanner) while I'm waiting for that to show up... can you tell me some things I can do, something I can clean and or adjust.. also is there fuses anywhere? I lost power after changing battery I think i blew a fuse??? or the regulator just went??

Did you cross the battery cables?
Did you verify you actually have a 1999 GTX RFI injected ski?

So yes that is a 787 RFI ski but has the old hood on it. Someone’s been swapping parts. What are the last two digits of the VIN number. That will be the year.

Hmmm 96 thought was 99...

Ok so here whats happening... i got the the doo this morning put key on started right up and idled fine... i shut it off... then it has no power... i just changed regulator and natter has lots of juice... if i wait a few hours she'll have power again... what is causing this??

Did someone swap the VIN plate? You'll find another one under the gas tank. The 96' and 97' GTX's have the green bottom hull.

Well, I can tell you something shady is going on with that ski.....
The hood and VIN indicate a 1996 but the hull is newer and the engine is a RFI which didn't come out until 1998. And from the seat color they are from a different ski too.
THe head has been off because the paint is chipped on the bolts and the pipe had been off because there is sealant all over the joint that shouldn't be there.

Possible... maybe parted out an older doo.?? Either i wanna get it running properly.. what could cause it to start run then shut when i release throttle?

It's under the gas tank, riveted to the hull, same type plate like in the rear. You need to nearly drain the tank and move it out the way to see it. But it's there, found it when stripping my 97' GTX doing the RESTO. You may have a previous stolen ski, when a person tries to register a stolen ski, it's been flagged, so someone finds a vin plate off another ski that is junked out, in this case a 96' GTX.
