Hi, My Challenger is just about impossible to start as the day goes on. Today the port engine needed FULL throttle to start. Have been having problems all last year. PO was premixing so I have continued. Some oil is being used, but 1 engine is not original so I believe only 1 is getting oil. I think I will just eliminate the injection soon and be done with the worries. Plugs foul FAST. in both engines. We do a lot of tubing and wakeboarding and nobody wants engines running in between shots. Engines will not idle anyway but would be a lot better if they did. Getting back to the ramp and on trailer is usually a utube moment.
So my question is. How hard is it to rebuild carbs? Do I order a kit and replace parts? Then go out and adjust? Where can I get a kit and where can I get step by step instructions? I'm no mechanic but can follow directions, usually. Not only that but I cant afford to pay someone to do it.
PS. why is there not some way to run this thing in my yard? I have to drive an hour away and tie up the ramp to trouble shoot or adjust?? Really?
Thanks in advance.
Tim

It's pretty straight forward.
It you get shop manual there are picture step by step.

I would reorder specific internal parts. Kit has more than what you need in some cases.

Thanks, how will I know what parts I will need. I'd like to have everything ready. I'm not even positive what carbs I have. Mikuni, I guess.

Wait a min, are you saying that you run Premix in the fuel tank for the one engine but then the other engine still has the oil pump on it? That means that the actual ratio of the engine with the oil pump is 20:1 not the recommended 40:1. In other terms you are feeding twice the amount of oil into the engine as needed.

Kinda, i'm premixing because PO did. Reason
Is I'm not 100% sure both engines are getting
Oil injected. So to prevent burning them up they
Are probly getting way too much oil.
Although I have cut back on the premix. And
They dont smoke that much. Just foul plugs
Every time.

I am going to say this just as plain as I can, You need to choose...Oil Pump or premix...not both. I would just buy the kit and block off the other engine and go premix with both. That is the cheapest, quickest, and easiest solution. Do that and the oil pump engine will run better, not foul plugs, and have more power. If you are still fouling your plugs then thin out your mixture.
