Hello. I just got this from my grandpa not running so please bare with me. Im going off what he told me. This is a 1999 GTX Sea Doo. It was running perfect but starting dieing randomly. After it would die it would crank like the battery was dead. He changed the battery and it ran fine for a few days. Then it did it again. Thought it might be the stator not charging the battery so we hooked up a meter up to it while it runs. It says is charger around 14-15 volts. But after so many hours it would kill a battery. There is a battery deal blinking on the dash board sometimes. Would could this be? My grandpa says that it has to be hooked up to a computer to fix it. Any help is much appreciated!

Well... 15 volts is bad. You could be cooking the battery. (and potentially going to cook the electronics in the ski)

the spec is... 13.5 to 14.5 Volts at 5000 RPM. Any more, or less... and the regulator is probably bad.

Ok im going to ask my grandpa if it was exactly 15 or where it was at. I have a feeling this is going to be hard listening to what he says then trying to put what he says here. He has had it a 2 different mechanics for the last 2 years and none of them could figure it out. Well one of them replaced a bunch of stuff that didnt work and the other said it needs to be put on a computer. Ill get back to you with what he says. Thanks for the reply!

Ok i asked him to give me exactly what was going on with it. He said that he would run it and after so long the battery would go dead. He said that either 12v or battery would flash on the dashboard while it was running. He put it on a meter and it was charging properly around 14-14.5 and he changed the battery 3 times. So its charging but not keeping the battery charged. This really makes no sense but thats whats been going on with it. Any help is very much appreciated!

Well... if the battery is charging... then the low 12v shouldn't be coming on. It sounds like the test's need to be re-done.

After doing some research it does have a voltage regulator. That seems like a logical choice considering at idel the voltage is normal but when your out riding it its probly not putting out enough juice to the battery to keep it charged. You can run it like this for hours then it finally runs the battery dead. what do you all think? Does it sound like a good risk to try and buy a regulator?

I would go check it myself before buying a reg. BUT yes... that sounds like a low voltage issue, and most of the time it's a regulator.

Ya ill probly go take it out and see what happens and put it on a meter to be sure. Thanks for you help. I appreciate it!

I got my rave springs and also went and got the battery checked. It was bad also. So i replaced the battery and bought a new rectifier. Im gonna do all the work today/tomorrow and drop her in the lake and see what happens. Sure hope this fixed it and it runs well!
