hi all
i just cracked open my 787 and found the piston busted up and the jug in bad shape, called the stealership and the price for new is insane.....i did however found a used jug and piston but it the jug has been taken down .75.
my question is if i install this will there be problems with oil delivery and fuel mixtures.....

if i just install the .75 jug and piston setup without doing the other i figure it should be ok sence the travel is the same
i just want to be sure though dr honda....thanks dude

also for the 787 motor what yrs are the same as far as parts replacement....re..jugs,saying a 96 jug would fit on a 98 setup
thanks again

From what I've seen the 787 shortblock is the 787 shortblock. So you can mix and match years. Changes occur in exhaust/size of intake when you get to the longblock pending the application boat/ski/year etc. So you should be fine sourcing a jug from a 96'. I would follow doc hondas advice and get both cylinders bored to same size. The manual indicates that you can have one oversize piston with a standard size beside it. But every single machine shop I've discussed this topic with say "don't do it".

Hope this helps!

I never seen anyone mix the different bore sizes on the same engine. You can sleve the jug if you want to make it the same size as your current one, but I think the other one will need overboaring soon enough. They weight might be different also with pistons of differnet sizes and makes if it not an OEM one or exact OEM replacement and casue issues. For like the extra $100 bucks I would just get the other jug done. Saves time and money down the road. Fullbore does a WSM plat topend kit for $300 on the 787. That is the way to go. I have had him bore out my Yamaha 1200 and Polaris 750 with no issues. He might even have a jug to sell you cheap he keeps all of that extra stuff in stock. Do it right the first time you save money in long run...
