I purchased a 98 Seadoo GS with a lil problem. It was a good deal and the Seadoo looked new so I figured worst case I'd build the baddest mail box on the block. The lady I bought it from said the shop told her it was at least a $250+ computer part plus labor to repair it. Here's what it does. I put in a new battery and nothing. I checked the fuses on the mpem and the second one from the bottom which should have a 5 amp fuse has a 30 amp fuse. Now the bottom fuse which is a 15 amp fuse was popped. I replace it and instantly it pops. What might cause this? Do I need to replace my mpem? Also heard about guys fixing these, anyone know anything about that? Or some where I can get it repaired or another one. Also on the mpem the numbers stamped on it are 278 000 930
But on the back there is a sticker that reads:
Serial # E0085900008Z
Manufd- 2003/06/23
Client # 278-000-916
Hard: E00851A00
Appl: R

Which one would I need and why the two numbers? Help!

Disconnect the trim motor. It may come back to life... but chances are, someone tried to "Jump Start" it... and roasted the computer.

Kinda new development, I removed all fuses and installed correct one in and now the ones on mpem didn't pop. Nothing. Then checked the fuse in rear electrical box of seadoo and it was a 30 amp fuse that was popped... I replaced it then a second or two it popped aswell. The one up front still good so far. Now do the ones that say spare on thmpem need fuses if so what size? Thanks

No they are spares. you need to completely disconnect the VTS and see if it keeps blowing fuses. If it does, you need a MPEM.

Well I know If I didn't need a new mpem I do now! Replaced the fuses with correct ones and it stopped popping but still no beeps or anything. Then saw the fuse in rear elec box had a blown 30amp fuse. I replaced it and it popped. looked up where that fuse goes and noticed it called for a 15 amp fuse. I didn't have one handy but had a 10 amp(I know still not a 15) but figured it was less and wouldn't hurt. I plugged it in and heard a lil sizzle and smoke from mpem :( The fuses weren't popped so I removed it and found a lil spot where I burned on the rear of the mpem. That's my luck! FML! Now wondering if i put a new mpem would it fry that one too?
