My dad bought me a 1998 Seadoo GTX RFI about 3 months ago. We took it out on the second day we got it, everything worked fine. After that we didnt find much time for it, so it lay in my back garden for a while. Until 4 days ago when we decided to take it to our caravan in prestonpans for a little shot. The battery was flat because we forgot to treacle charge it so we gave it a quick 2 or 3 hour boost when we got there. We tried it before leaving for the water and it was fine. So we headed down expecting a nice day on the Ski. Then we get it in the water and the engine doesnt turn over. After a good 30 minutes trying our luck we brought back to shore and gave another little charge. The engine started a couple times but just died out after a few seconds. Expecting a faulty battery we contacted an expert for more info. They suspected a new starter relay was needed. So we bought one and fitted it. The engine turned over first click of the button but died out a few seconds later after that we were getting much better results but not enough for the engine to keep running. We then decided it was due to low power in the battery and so bought a new one. We fitted it and there was no change. we then contacted our expert again who now says we may need a new Starter Motor.
After wasting £100 on parts my dad was not happy and so i was wandering if anyone has any other solutions rather than another £400 being flung at the ski.
As a Great Mechanic my dad has decided to remove the engine himself and has found a step by step guide on how to do so.
