Hello everyone i'm John form Osage beach mo. . I have a 1998 Sea-doo and i have enjoyed it last year for a couple weeks before i before i became a big sissy to cold water. lol. I'm new to your forum and would love to be directed to some good reading info on my bike. I think i am having some fuel problems . I rode the bike for about ten minutes this year and i ran great, then it went to bogging down to something bad, but never shut off . I checked the fuel filter close to the tank and it was clean for the most part . The screen was basic discolored (i'm sure its from fuel over time) but gas would have no problem passing through it. I was told it has two more filters on it close to the carb's (really small filters) , If so is there a diagram i could see to understand how to change them or is this a non do it your selfer (lol) ? Any way thank you for any comments or dirrection given !!

your 1998 most likely has grey fuel lines. Ethanol fuel which is crap, eats them. You may have been filling up with up to 10% ethanol without knowing it. You should switch these lines out for newer fuel lines. The old lines degrade and green gook will hit the filters or your engine.

Sounds great, i will get that done now !! Is there also a second set of filters at the carbs that i have been told ? And is it something a everyday guy can change, or should it be taken to a shop to be done , i do have some mechanic abilities .

yes, each carb has it's own little filter the size of an eraser head.
I also have 1998 951 carbs for sale if you need whole new ones :)

in the mean time, replace your oil line filter, and check the compression on the engine.

also clean the RAVEs and toss in new plugs.

Wow, this is an old thread you woke from the dead.

The RAVE is the exhaust valve that changes the port height to give good top and bottom performance. Also known as a powervalve in the 2-stroke world.
