1997 Seadoo GTX Rave Ports

Hi,
I have a 1997 seadoo gtx and its been running fine but I can't seem to figure out what is going on with my rave valves. I have the normal 787 rotax with rave valves but for some reason when I bought the ski the valves had an external vacuum line that was just capped off and didn't seem to go anywhere. After digging deeper into the block, the exhuast ports where pressure from the block would enter the rave valves doesn't seem to exist on my ski. Im not sure if im crazy but I thought the 787's couldnt support external vacuum for the rave valves and my block doesnt have the holes drilled for block pressure either. Not sure whats going on but the ski is running fine right now, will it hurt just to leave the rave valves inoperable? Thanks

You are not crazy! The 1997 787 powered SD were all carbureted and all had RAVEs directly powered by exhaust pressure without any external vacuum/pressure lines to operate them. Your engine is probably incorrectly fitted with a RFI 787 set of RAVEs. Good news is all you need to to is swap them for the carbed 787 ones.

but don’t they still need exhaust pressure from the block? my block doesn’t have holes drilled in it like others I see

Now I can see your cylinders are grey and the rest of the engine is white. Seems the previous owner replaced your carbed engine cylinders for the fuel-injected ones. I'm surprised to see that your cylinders dont have the holes drilled for the RAVE'S exhaust passages (i thought the fuel-injected, solenoid activated RAVE 787s had them too). I'm unsure if one really needs to drill the passage for them to open properly, and don't know if that T-d line should be capped-off or open to atmosphere in this situation. Since you are already there, check the opposite side of the cylinders to see how they sealed the fuel injector holes. Just as a precaution! Check this thread: "951 RAVE Valve Mod"

I'd check for fuel injectors on the other side. LOL I'll assume he drilled a hole in the rave housing so the gas pressure up the bellows and open the rave or else the ski would not be running fine. I'd just cap the suction right at the rave housing and ride it. If it was working, your' good. Don't replace those valve blades whatever you do. Good Luck.
