1997 seadoo gtx bogs on takeoff only. will run wot fine

So far.
Carbs have been rebuilt. even tried a spare set. no change
Fuels lines have been replaced
Fuel selector good
Plugs good
Compression good
No exhaust leaks
Rave valves redone, tried to sets of the tops to be sure wasnt too stiff.
Water shoots out the back
I'm putting all this so we can skip the did you reboot the computer level of diagnosis.

exact problem: ski runs fine on trailer. idles fine in water. runs wot just fine. all day long. but from idle you have to feather the throttle to get it to go. it will bog,bog,bog.bog,kinda bog,bog,kinda bog, then look out here we go.

Running on the trailer is no load. We can note it then ignore it.

You can verify rich/lean condition by playing with the choke on takeoff.
Hold the choke out roughly half way and see if your take off is better or worse.

If it's better, you need more fuel (something probably needs cleaned). If it's worse, you need less fuel.
The carb adjustment sticky will help you with the adjustment part.

I'll try the choke option as i have before but i cant remember the affect it had.
also has anyone heard of the water regulator causing this issue. I've seen a few threads that said if its clogged or leaking it could cause the off idle bog.

Have the exact same ski with the exact same problem. Some minor carb adjustments helped a little, but not much. Lo and behold, I pulled the water regulator off today and found the bottom metal clamp was completely rusted away.ordering s new one tonight with hopes of getting this thing going 100% this week.

EDIT: Didn't seem to be the issue. Following this thread still to see if you have any better luck than I.

I haven't been able to, no. I replaced the water regulator and rebuilt the carbs to no avail. I ordered a set of the updated rave housings in hopes that they will fix the issue.

If your carbs have the accelerator pump you have to make sure it's squirting in both carbs.

Sounds like it is really rich and loading up. Once you get it running on top end, if you back back down to idle and hit it hard again, does it do the same thing? Is the popoff set correctly? Did you use OEM carb parts?

Hmm, I see you tried a different set of carbs with no help. Double check all the plumbing, could the return line be plugged? Try taking it off and blowing in it. It should be open to the tank. New plugs?

Wear ring and carbon seal will not cause it to bog. It will rev and slip like a clutch but not bog.

No, idle screws only set the rpm for idle.

I would still be suspecting the 3-4 small transfer holes in the carb pilot circuit.

You have the high and low idle screws that change fuel mixture

No, the low speed mixture screw only controls the mixture at idle then you are into the pilot circuit and is why it's so important to have the 3-4 small pilot holes perfectly clean. The high mixture screw is just for top end where his is running fine.
