Hey Guys need help,
Just picked up a 97 gts with the 787. The main fuse in the coil box keeps blowing. I traced it to the mpem and rectifer. There is a black wire that comes from the stator that connects on the rectifer post along with a black wire that is from the mpem. When these 2 wires touch the fuse blows. I dont know if the previous owner tampered with these wires on the rectifer. Is that black wire coming out of the mpem supposed to be 12 volts? So im confused here. Trying to figure out if someone miswired these wires on the rectifer post or something else is the problem. I have taken those two wires i mentioned off that same post and just touch them together by themselves and it blows the fuse. Thanks appreciate some help on this.

Ok found my answer by using chatgpt. This help me identify that the 2 post are not part of the rectifier but a plate the rectifier sits on top of
The 2 post hold the negative wires on one and the positive on the other. However, that black wire coming out of the mpem is suppose to go on the negative post, which it was
Unfortunately the mpem was bad, causing that black wire to turn positive.thereby blowing fuses. The rectifier was also shorted .
