1997 Sea Doo GTX tach troubles and low voltage light flash

I have a 1997 Sea Doo GTX with the needle on the tach stuck under the post. Can this be remedied or must I replace the gauge?

Next problem same ski. I have been able to start the ski as long as the battery is fully charged. After starting the 12 volt low stays lit and the red warning lite flashes while running. Soon after the battery charge is insuffient to restart the ski. Any help will be greatly appreciated after 2 trips to a local Sea Doo Dealer with POOR results.

If you can wrench the repair manual can be had for free off the Internet. I would say off hand it's your charging stator or voltage regulator. Manual will give you check out procedures for the charging system. Do not just throw parts at the problem. Do the check outs. The problem with an older ski is if they can't plug in the scanner to tell them what is wrong. They are at a lost to what needs replaced. Some will just throw parts at the problem till it's fixed. Like $400 later! Start by checking and cleaning all your wire connections. On the battery,engine,starter and bolted on grounds on engine. Pull junction plugs apart carefully and look for crud and corrosion. Put Dielectric tune up grease on the cleaned up connections to protect them. Do not put in the female parts of junction plugs. Swab on the male ends / plugs.

RC3615 Orderered a new tach of course the wrong one was sent reordered waiting for the next one. Had to replace the front storage cover almost complete next will be start checking all connections. I do believe the stator is the issue but would rather make sure than guess.
