I recently rebuilf my carbs with the OSD back to oem kits on my 96 XP. When I got it running and took it out on the water it cranked right up and had about 30 min of fun before it lost pretty much all throttle response. A couple of things to note is the water was fairly shallow at around 3-4 ft deep and I was going in a fairly tight circle trying to stir up some waves. I was able to idle back to the boat ramp and about 40 yds out it completely shut off. I kind of figured it was a fuel delivery issue since it ran perfect for around 30 min before it died.
Got it back home and in my frustration I made the mistake of trying to flush the ski out before I had it running and it locked up. Took the spark plugs off an turned it over with a towel over the holes and caught a majority of whatever it was spitting out. Put the spark plugs back in and with the flush kit OFF it is spitting water/liquid out of the exhaust and still wont fire.
Any ideas? How bad is it for the water to turn on before you have it cranked?
