ok i have a 1996 xp 787 with a no start issue.ijust purchase ski from a gentleman who has installed new engine 20 hrs ago.but then it stopped starting and he let it set for 2yrs..when first got ski found had no spark read some articles on this forum and followed the instruction and found failed stator assy..purchased a used one and i now have spark to the spark plugs.the engine spins over fine but does put out a nasty smelling smoke out the carbs when starting..maybe normal 2 stroke smell not sure..oh by the way forgot to say when i got the ski the carb and the carb base was off the engine so i purchased a degree wheel from office depot and install the degree wheel but it didnt line up on the exactly on the degrees described on the repair manual i have it was impossible to do the plate didnt match the degrees as listed on the repair manual it said 146.5 degrees..got it as close as i could..anyway like i said put the key in get two beeps the engine spins over fine but no start (has spark since stator replacement) it at least getting some fuel because i see it on the tips of the spark plugs after trying to start (but have no idea of fuel pressure) even tried to start after adding alittle pre-mixed fuel to the cyds and still didn't start..so at this point iam at a loss i have no idea where to go from here except to maybe try to realign the under carb degree plate it maybe wrong..if you can help me please do iam about to pull hair out..thank you

147*/65*, if it dont line up, flip the disc over, it'll align. But think your 180* off, with the rv aligned, the front hole/port, should be exposed.

thanks

ok iam going out to adjust now..really hope this solves the no start..as far as i can tell iam getting fuel, spark, mpem is working so its driving me nuts..

still wrong

ok took carbs and cover back off and with 0/360 degrees at bottom of the right side intake hole i marked 147 degrees then moved the 0/360 degree mark to the top of the right side intake hole then marked 65 degrees..then problem i have is the rotary disc i have will not match those marks no matter which wat i flip it

okay i got the timing right but it runs a lil ruff and i messed wit the rotarty valve a couple times movin it back and forth to see if that changes anything but i had the carbs rebuilt and the guy put yellow see threw lines and i can see that there is air bubbles in the lines so i am woulderin wat i shud do to get the air bubles out of the lines and pluse it sounds like its studderin a lil and want idle could the air bubles be causing this??
