1996 Speedster Things to do

Welp, I am re dooing the doo. The yellow and purple is just too damn ugly for me, so what I am doing is a complete boat transformation.

Things I am dooing:

1. Color change (done)
2. New Gauges - autometer marine
3. New Seats - black and white covered
4. Carpet the floor with marine grey carpet
5. Installing Wake tower with 4 cans and light bar


I have done the color change. I designed the all the decals for the boat and had them put on. What do you think so far.

You might want to consider doing hydro turf and not the marine carpet.

I did marine carpet in my interior on my big boat, but wouldn't want it in a location that gets really wet. I think it would be slick with all the synthetic fibers it has.

Looks hot! The decal reminds me somewhat of the 2000'ish model CC Air Nautique's. What kind of tower were you considering? A couple of friends have half heartedly offered to outfit my boat w/ a tower. Does anyone on the forum have descent photo shop skills?

I see that you are from ATL; what lake you ride? i spend most of my time on Oconee; and if the water comes back up i look forward to getting back on lanier (i did not go to lanier all last summer because of the lake level)

I actually live pretty close to you. I live in Alpharetta. I just moved up here from Orlando, FL. So haven't been on any lake up here. I heard Oconee was full.

I am looking at getting a tower from DIYWAKE.COM but people have been telling me that the hull maybe too thin, and will cause stress cracks in the gel coat. Anyone heard of this happening? How can I prevent that?

That's a concern of mine too. I've seen plenty of these early model boats with towers. Some input from owners that have added one might have some insight. DIY has a really affordable tower.

yeah oconee is always full because it is owned by Georgia Power and not part of the Army Corps of Engineers watershead project to keep the mussles alive in Flordia. Lanier is still ~14 ft below full pool (i believe) and i am not sure about Allatoona i have never been on that lake because i live on the other side of town. If you ever want someone to show you the area lakes just let me know:cheers:

I got the seats out of the boat this weekend. Wow how dirty it was under them. I cleaned all that up with good ole soap and water, after that, I got it really clean with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and now it looks amazing. Taking the seats to get covered this coming up weekend and should have them back in the boat in two weeks. I will take some pictures then.

I am going to order the gauges from Autometer this week and hopefully that will be my project this weekend.

Yeah, it is amazing what collects under the seats.

Hey where did you get the black bumper guard? I have a 95 and ive been trying to find a black one. can i steal one from another model?
Also what did you use to dye the steering console? unless yours was red already. Mine is the purple one and im looking for options.
