1996 SEADOO GTX, just bought it! First PWC,

Well, took the carbs to a local machine shop and Tom, the owner told me $40-50 to get them out and 10 for the screws, so we will see by Monday what's the verdict.
 
I cannot find fuel selector in manual is it called something different. or where is it located.
 
You will see when you take it out...they get gummed up and hard as hell or next to impossible to clean thoroughly from the "grey tempo lines", that gel travels throughout the fuel system..new ones are $20-$25 so it's simply worth it to change it out. And once you change it out it should not be a regular maintenance item..

Carb screws extraction

Here are my carbs, i extracted the screws that were stripped all six of them...100_4691.JPG100_4692.JPG100_4694.JPG100_4696.JPG I used a cheap extractor kit from Harbor freight for $8. Do not expect to use the bit more than once, but for $8 who cares.
 
Great job! Those are a bitch. Now get em clean. Make sure you spray through the pilot jet and open the butterflies to get the 3 tiny holes completely clean. READ the carb adjustment sticky at the top of this forum. And reuse your springs. Do not use new ones from the kits.

Got everything really clean and when i went to tighten the tiny screw of the needle seat valve it just kept going around and it is stripped so now the Mag carb has to go to the machine shop Monday. Talked to the machine shop guy and he said that he could go to the next size up and that's what i am going to do. It seems like i spend a lot of time just waiting for stuff to arrive or to get them fix, it seems as if i am never going to get to the lake this season the way things are going. :ack: I need another jetski...

Looks good, but sorry to say those grips are going to limit you from going full throttle

Hey thanks for the compliment!

But as far as the throttle being limited, are you referring to the fact that since the grip is thicker it will not allow for the lever full travel?

Or are you referring to the grip flange?

I'm referring to the flange. I bet you already knew that and had plans to take it off or cut it off, but just thought I'd mention it so you're not disappointed when you take it out. My friend had an SPX with grips like those, and you could barely get it over 50% throttle.

To be honest, when i installed them i didn't think that the flange would be a problem. But, we will see once i am in the water again; if i can get my carb fix. I remember getting my thumb fatigued from pressing on the throttle lever using the oem grips, maybe it will make it worse if i am fighting the flange too. The flange has a flat side and the lever is on the flat side of the flange so it might not be too bad. Soccerdad, a member of this forum has them in his GTX so they should be ok.

Did your friend checked the throttle cable adjustment? I am not very knowledgeable yet, since we just got this jetski.
 
Finally decided to get back to the seadoo after all the brother drama...:ack: So now is all me.

I went ahead and fixed the carbs screws. Had to use a heli coil on the nee dle valve seat screw (3mm?) drilled it, tapped it, heli coiled it and it worked, same size screw back in. Got the carbs put back together, filled the gas tank, filled the oil tank and cranked it. Did not wanted to start. Tried several times and nothing. Then i came here and read some more and found a thread by seadoonewb where he was having the same problem, until his wife brought to his attention that his fuel selector was in the off position. Went outside and checked mine and mine was in the off position too! :facepalm:

Will try tomorrow with the fuel selector in the "on" position. :rofl:

One thing that i did noticed was that oil was not flowing up the tiny lines into the carbs when i was cranking it, i thought that if it was cranking that oil should be flowing up to the carbs?

Also, since i am working alone now and i have no one to hold anything, the oil pump cable got tangle inside the pump and i had to pry it loose and in the process i turned the pump lever backwards a few times because i was working with one hand in there. Did i screwed up the oil pump?
