Hi All,
Just another quick question for you all...... Just greased my pto flywheel today and the workshop manual said to pump the grease in until the rubber boot moved slightly (Obviously indicating that it is full) but as I was pumping the grease in the shaft started to move backwards !! I stopped immediately as I didn't want to force anything out of anywhere. Is this normal? I assume it will stop eventually (When it gets to the back of the end stop in the housing cover?) Just want to make sure before I pump some more grease into it. As somebody once quoted (I think it was Seadoosnipe) "The only stupid question is the one you dont ask!!" Cheers Guys... Steve

Two posts...

Oops..... Forgot to put the XP in the first one and didn't know how to change it cos I am new to these forum things as well!! Doh!! Haha. Thanx for the quick reply Matey. Its only a small hand held grease pump which is ideal for getting into small places so it will probably need a good few pumps but I will stop as soon as the boot moves. Anything else I need to grease while I am playing around with it? And thanx for the reply on my rave valves the other day - Got em installed today but it was 2 degrees today so I thought it might just be a little bit cold to try it out on the lake!! Hehe. Thanx again Mate... Steve

anytime Steve..., no other grease fittings, but have you replaced the oil in the pump assy, if not, go to your local auto store, and get 75w-90 syn oil, pull the cone assy off, let drain, re-install cone, pull the fill plug, lower the ski down in front, and start filling up....if need help, there's a youtube video of it.

Pump oil........

Thanks Guys,
Yes Mate, got my pump oil this week so that might be next weekends job!! Hehe. They didn't have an 'O' ring but they said it would be ok to use the old one again. Not that I dont believe them, but my plan is to get it pulled apart and then go round the corner to a local engineering supplies centre who stock loads and loads of stuff and get a new 'O' ring from there. I dont like doing half a job! And yes i used a synthetic grease. Good job I stopped when the shaft moved then eh? It says in the manual to stop pumping grease in when the rubber boot moves. Anyway, thanx again Guys. I am sure I will have more questions for you soon! Hehe. Take care, Steve
