Hi guys, new to the forum, i have a problem with my ski, wont turn over or click, battery is good any ideas of what to do? Ran fine last year and now have this problem, i have replaced the spark plugs, rebuilt the carb and replaced one of the spark plug wires........any help would be great......thanks

If you jumped it at the solenoid you put power directly to the starter. If your battery is hot it should have turned the starter. You heard a clunk so it tried. Can you rotate the crankshaft by hand? I'd say starter issue or locked up engine.

Get the battery load tested. Pull the spark plugs, turn the crank over by hand. Those two things are very important based on your results of jumping the solenoid.

Then your connections are bad or starter is shot.
Try connecting battery directly to starter with jumper cables to confirm starter is bad.
Don't buy an aftermarket one as they are junk. All of them.
Pull yours apart and if it looks ok you can get new brushes on eBay for $16 and that is typically what goes bad. Make sure you mark the case and caps so they go back in proper alignment.

Isn't the battery positive already going to the starter? I can see the Red wire going to the starter.....how do I do this? just wire from battery red to starter and just ground to engine block? If I don't have jumpers how could I do this?

thanks

No, the negative goes directly to the starter.
The positive goes from the battery to one side of the solenoid copper lug. The other side of the large copper solenoid goes directly to the starter.

Ok, so with no jumper wires I tried the following, disconnected the battery, ran the red wire from the starter to battery positive, then ran the black short ground from the solenoid box and the main black wire from engine block to negitive on the battery, as soon as I touch them on the battery I hear winding noise, engine doesn't turn over, just winding.....

Sounds like the starter bendix isn't engaging the flywheel. You will need to pull the starter to confirm.
