Hi everybody. I have a 1996 GTX that I REALLY would like to have running for the weekend. After being winterized professionally it started up fine a couple times. Out of the blue I went to start it and completely nothing no beeps or anything when I put the key on the dess post. I could push the start button however, and it would turn the gauges on, but would pop up with 12v low. I figured it was the battery so I tried other battery and same thing. So to be sure I bought a brand new battery and the 12v low went away but still nothing from the key no beeps no nothing at all. I could still push the start button and turn the gauges on for about 15 seconds. So I let it sit for about a week and a half and I go to try again and it's the same thing with the 12v low coming up now. I thought maybe it was the dess post but now it makes me wonder if its something else like the rectifier since the 12v low is on. I can get it to crank from jumping the solenoid, but it is completely dead. I even tried the wrong key and got no beeps from the Dess, and I've tried pressing the start button 5 times and got nothing. I am extremely frustrated and have no clue what I'm doing with Jet Ski's. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is a second very thin ground wire that comes from the rear e-box, is it connected to the battery. I once forgot to put it on when replacing a battery and had a similar issue.

Sounds like a bad ground connection. What voltage reading are you getting from the battery, I know you bought a new one but ive seen a couple brand new ones be bad.

Run the new battery. The maintenance light will go off with more throttle applied. The beeper can be a coincidence, since those are known to fail at any time. Take an eraser and clean the dess post and the strip inside the lanyard. If worried about the rectifier, once fired up, rev I to 5k and check battery with voltmeter. Should be around 13.5-14.5v

Not sure you read my post ski is completely dead that won't work. Ran the voltage battery is at 12 and getting 12vs to solenoid. Also checked the fused none are blown. Really not sure what to do

If you have checked all connections, all fuses and battery is good and it cranks by jumping the solenoid that leaves the dess system and mpem.

Yes the gauges come on when I hit the start button and stay on for about 20 seconds or so. But it says 12v low even though the battery is good and has good connection

Ok so you either got a bad post or a bad key. Some have used an eraser to clean the contact points in the key fob and the post, they can get dirty and create poor connection. There is a test in the manual on how to check the post with a meter also. check the forum I know there are a couple threads about it.

Ok I am going to look into it. That still confuses me on why it would show 12v low when I know the battery was fully charged.
