I just took my 96 GTI out for the first time this summer and it is cutting out at full throttle any hints on where to look for the issue?

fuel valve needs cleaned my gsx does the same thing unless i turn it on reserve. Clean the valve and if you havent already change the gray fuel lines to blck automotive and clean the carbs if not done yet

Start with the basics, new spark plugs. Fuel lines, fuel filter, carb rebuild, and the mentioned fuel valve. That should have you fixed. If you are a novice, start with the plugs and fuel lines. If that doesnt fix it, rebuild the carb.

I kinda have the same problem with a 2000 GTI I think I might pull the feul vale off and clean it and see if that helps I changed the feul lines and cleaned carb as well no help if I figure this one out I will keep you in mind.

yeah nine out of ten times if the lines have never been changed they start to break down and get gooey inside the selector valve and carbs. When you change ther lines if you dont clean everything that the fuel runs through then it is worthless i see you have cleaned the carb already and changed the lines so the problem is most likely gonna lie in the selector valve take it off and cleand it out real well and put it on and see if that makes a difference. REPORT BACK WITH FINDINGS

See if it will run on "Reserve". If it does, then you know it is the fuel selector valve. When you take the fuel selector valve off, take it apart before cleaning it. Or if you can't get it apart, you can order one online for like $25.
