1996 gsx

I finally found a ski! I put a deposit down today on a 96 GSX..57 hours, no grey lines, new carbs, new battery..its a very clean ski. I'm paying 1900 from a jet ski shop. The ski doesn't come with a trailer. Not the best price I guess but i cant find a better deal. The guy did a compression test in front of me and both cylinders read around the 150 mark. Let me know what you guys think, and feel free to tell me about the GSX i don't know much about it. I originally wanted a 97 GTX..i'm just glad this has the 787! JB

I think you got it at a good price as it sounds like it's ready for the water, just add gas. I have a 96GSX myself, I got mine last fall, and the more I ride it the more I like it. Your gonna like it, I also have a 96GTI, I call it the Buick, the 96GSX is more like a sports car.

nice ski, i'm in brick NJ bunch of us go riding on the bay often one of the guys has a 97gsx i have a 96xp 787. What would you like to know about the ski? the local riders can be found on www.eastcoastpwc.net Couple weeks ago we went from point pleasant down to the barneget lighthouse and back. I have the 96 GSX and I' keeping it around for a minute. It still has good performance but is more stable for 2up or new riders. I am used to X4's so the range of the 15 gal tank is nice too.

Great..thanks guys. Does the GSX spit water out the back? I thought that was only a Yamaha thing..

It's not a rooster tail like the yamaha but the tell tale does shoot out the back of the ski. There's a kit to move it to the front of the ski so you can actually see it, if you're interested post back and I'll see if I can find the thread or you can purchase from www.a-lmotorsports.com .

but yes, the yami's have a pisser (front right i think) AND a visibility spout which comes from some water redirected from the pump.

seadoo has the pisser in the back, no visibility spout

you can spot a yamaha 1/4 mile away

the GSX is a great ski. I have a 96 and a 97. The are pretty much identical except the '96 did not come with a speedo, not sure if it was an option or not. does anyone have one on their '96?

I used to have a 96 GSX and I'm sure it had an analog speedo. I know it had a digital tach on the multi display and seems like it had an analog tach as well.

The 96GSX does not come with a speedometer, I added one to mine, since the multigauge has a tach. function I just replaced the tach. with a speedo gauge from a 96GTX, added a speedo pickup, which also has a lake temp. function, hooked up power.

Ok, I stand corrected. My 96 XP had the speedo. My GSX had the analog and digital tach, which was great thinking on someone's part. Everyone needs 2 tachs instead of 1 of each. They fixed it, sort of, on my 97.5 GSX. It has 2 speedometers and 1 tach.

got ya beat, my 97 GSX has 2 tachs and 2 speedos. (2 gauges + digital)
