1996 GSX restore finished!

This “free” ski was a chore and it was an absolute mess. Multiple mouse nests and piss in the engine bay along with over a decade of water in the engine. With my teenagers help we got it all back together and polished up. A few months of work on weekends and she’s alive. I let him break it in as he’s rough on things.

Nice job, that’s great that you and your teenage son work on it together, I can’t even get my 18 year old boy to ride one. He’s a good kid, off to university in 10 days. Just different interests. Hope you and your son still have lots of warm weather to enjoy it this year

Just curious, what was your break in procedure?
I personally break them hard to set the rings well. I’ve rebuilt over a dozen sleds and I do one heat cycle under load and I’m not easy on it. Couple short bursts with one good pull to full throttle. Let it cool down for 15 minutes then go at it again and drive it like I stole it. Has never ever failed me and rings seat very well. I have always used semi synthetic for break in oil.
