After we gave the foam time to dry out we wrapped the seat. It turned out great, there is not any creases or folds. The stencil will be getting done tomorrow.

The seat looks great, you gotta be happy with that. Now I do see a few decals on that ski, I thought it was show no mercy when it came to decals.

Tonight we put in a few hours on this. We finished the wetsanding by using 500,800, and 1000 grit sandpaper.

Then we replaced the sponson that was broken, someone tried to fix it and it looks like they used some weird compound that was a mix between silicone and mortar. It was really strange, any way we chipped it all away and then scraped the rest away with a razor blade and then sanded it smooth. We then removed the original silicone around the bolt holes. Before we installed the new one we had to remove the water box. Then we applied new silicone and put the sponson on the hull. The hardware went on pretty easy. We used a claw tool to put the washers on

And then we took 2 1/4 ratchet extensions with a regular 10 mm socket to put the nut on. We took a small peice of paper towel and placed it in the socket and then wedged the nut in there too so that the nut was nice and tight and would not fall out. Then just thread the nut on a little bit and pull the socket back out the paper towel will still be in the socket. Then switch to a deep well and finish tighening the nut down.

We also removed the grips and handlebar pad.

Tomorrow we will buff it out, put on the decals and the mats.

Looking Good JSG, I have the same claw tool. It is amazing how many times that thing comes out of the tool box.

How bout a sneak peak of the decals?

Today I buffed the hull with heavy cut compound and then medium and finished up with fine cut compound. I also stenciled seadoo on to the seat we recently wrapped.

That seat looks great, the Seadoo looks like OEM from the factory. I started my GSX and got it all ripped apart and cleaned. How did you buff the underside? How was it supported? Can't see myself doing that job on my back. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Today we put on the mats and the registration numbers and bottom decals we got from Dr Honda

We also put a new start stop button on and I still need to add the spacers for the grips.

Just a few more shots.

All that is left to do is finish painting the hood. We painted the hood but ran out of clear, we just purchased more clear so this weekend this should be completely done.

By the lack of views and posts it looks like this forum loves the x4 hull but the other body types of the 90's are not as appealing and are the red headed step children of the seadoo world.

I'm actually falling in love with the gsx just from this thread.. I'm not bias when it comes to my hulls hahah

Actually there is more activity now, I do not care I just thought it was funny the attention x4 hull restos get compared to others. I also did a parabolic xp a while back and that did not get the attention an x4 resto I was doing at the same time got. Either way It is just getting sold and then I will move on to the next one. The next one in line is a 97 gsx but that is a real ground up build. This one was just cosmetic and fuel lines.

A properly built X4 is the answer to all the world's problems.

Did you use a flex additive for the bumpers? Super interested to see how you did this im dieing to do mine

I did my HX trim, all of it was purple. I removed all of it to spray it. The Krylon Fusion is some wicked stuff. On the front bumper it's a very flexible rubber, I twisted it 180 degrees and nothing changed--WICKED! I just wiped it all down really, really good with lacquer thinner, no primer, nothing. You can check the link in my sig line below. Sorry for stepping in JSG.

been lurking for a couple months now and have to say i happen to love the gsx hull so kudos. back in 98 i bought a brand new 97 gsx and thought id be riding forever but in 04 sold it to buy a house, now im a looking to get back on the saddle again.

Where is the rear grab handle??? Oh also got a question. Just got in a 96 gsx that I am parting out (over on the buy sell trade page :) ). Anyways it had a 787X in it. I thought only the xp's got the 787X's? Am I wrong or did seadoo put some in the gsx's as well. Engine is for sale just in case anyone is interested, sorry no more self marketing but I was caught off guard to see it in there...

@creynolds,what is a 787x,and how is it different than any of my 787's?
@jsg,geez man, what an awesone job u do.i show off a bunch or your work to our guys in our detail dept, and they are blown away!
every mornin befire the wrenches move they all huddle around to see if they catch a new post of your stuff.so kudos from all the staff at greiner gmc!

Well here is the last picture of it. It is completely done and SOLD. It left today for its new home on the lake. I did not even put it up for sale yet. It was sold by word of mouth. I had to put in some crunch time to get it done in time. The dess post took a crap and had to be replaced and since I was already taking the handlebar pad off I replaced the beeper.
