Finally have the old girl running on a hose. Noticed one of the bolts which attach the exhaust manifold to the motor weeping a very slight bit if water. It barly makes a drop maybe every 30 seconds to a minute. Should i worry and pull it off or let it ride hoping a few heat cycles take care of it.

Is it hot water? It may be one of the four welded freeze`plugs is corroded thru, dribble down to the bolt head.

no idea, but I think I have at least 4 of those in my attic, if its broke.. i'd send you one for like $5 + ship :)

I dont think anything is broken. I just think for whatever reason im getting a slight bit of water into the bolt hole and its leaking out near the allen head.

I would just check the torque on it and ride it. If your motor won't turn max rpm then I would replace the gasket. Bill made a good point also with the freeze plug leak. Put it in the water and see if you can feel water on the bottom of your j-pipe.

Whenever I hear pipe and water leak I always thing freeze plug. I helped a guy with his 96 xp last weekend that was leaking out of two of them.

No its not a freeze plug. I checked them prior to install and they were already welded. Plus you can easily see its coming from the head of the allen head.

Would it hurt to pull it off and apply a little rtv to both sides of the gasket. Just enought to hopefully seal it off.

Im worried that water could be also getting past the gasket and getting into the motor. Not sure thats possible, hopefully one of you more experienced guys can fill me in

Thanks
