here is the story.

i was out cleanning my jetski 95 seadoo SP, 587cc Rotax engine. After washing inside with degreaser and washing out with water, I reconnect the battery with wrong terminals.

As I connected the negative lead to positive terminal on the battery, it made a slight electrical arch on the terminal and nothing....No ignition at all

Realized my f**kup, i corrected the terminal positions but the ski is dead.
Located and replaced the 5A blown fuse...But now as I touch the negative terminal on the battery tp power the ski, it blows the 5A fuse.

Here is the diags I have done;

1. I disconnect the 4 wire cable to the CDi Unit / stator (Front of engine above) and the 5A fuse popping stops but still behaves like no power. Is this because that harness has the ground for the MPEM (electrical box??)

2. With the CDi connected and no battery; there is a dead short on the postive terminal to ground.

Any suggestions and tips on fault finding. Thanks in advance.

Ps. You can email me directly on:johnlal@connect.com.fj

You blew the diode in the MPEM.

There is a thread on how to fix it... OR... you need to replace the MPEM.

check out "borderpatrol" mpem thread. Ebay has tons of them. ANY 587 white motor mpem, will work
