To Whom It May Concern,
I have recently purchased a used 1995 SeaDoo /BRP GTX, and I am needing a few parts. I was told it just needed to be put back together, as normal when purchasing something used that is not the case. I am needing a service manual to help me identify the parts I am missing due to the fact that I am not very watercraft lingo savy. The SeaDoo and Trailer has been garage kept and covered. It has a new engine and the hull looks just like it came off the dealership floor. From what I can tell it is missing the correct 10-bolts for mounting the flywheel cover, 1 carburetor top cover, diaphragm and 4-screws, 2-Carburetor mounting bolts and the piece that mounts to the top of the exhaust manifold (head-pipe) in order to clamp the muffler to. It is also has the wrong intake manifold which doesn't mate to the carbs. I have the old intake manifold which does mate to the carbs, however it is damaged and I am not sure yet if I can have it repaired. I would be very interested in discussing this project with someone who is knowlegeable. Please contact me back as soon as you can. If it is not worth repairing I would consider selling it. Thanks In Advance, Linwood

It is certainly worth repairing. You say the hull is in great shape and it has a new engine. The parts you mention missing and/or in need of repair could all be replaced with new/used parts for a couple hundred dollars.

Any idea why the engine was replaced?

How much did you pay for it?

Also, don't just assume you will hook it all up and just go. You will need to thouroughly inspect the ski, mainly the oil and fuel delivery systems. This will prevent the need for another new engine real soon. ;)

Thanks, dj
I only gave $500 so I thought I might give it a go but I need to find out a little more about interchangeable parts as I don't want to tie up a bunch of money into new parts... I believe it has a 657 engine, but what I found is that the head-pipe new goes for $750. I don't really want to spend that kind of money. If I new what years and models were interchangeable then maybe I could find some used parts, If not I would be happy just to get my money back. Do you know anyone interested in a project?

Go to the link that SabrToothSqrl mentioned and get your part numbers so you know what you have. Quite often, parts are interchangable regardless of year. Even if the parts numbers are not the same, sometimes they still work. Best way to find out is to find the "superceded" part numbers. This is the current part number per BRP, and if two different part numbers have the same superceded number, then they are interchangeable.

There are online sources to find superceded numbers, parker yamaha is one. They have a parts request form, you put in your part numbers and they respond pretty quick with the current part numbers.

Ebay has a ton of used parts. You can easily get a new tuned Pipe and Cone for much less than that $750. Also, lots of people parting out machines here on this forum in the For Sale Forum.

$500 is a good deal assuming you don't have too much work beyond replacing the parts and hooking things up.
