1995 gts 587 no start

Well I deceided to get my ski for friends/family ready for the water when I realized it wouldnt start. I had gotten it in a good deal last fall so havent had a chance to get it in water. When I got it I replaced fuel lines cleaned carbs selector etc. it started up so I put it away for the time. Heres where im at compression 125/130 a little low but i think it should still start. Have good spark so I began to think it was fuel I bypassed selector still nothing. If I put a little premix into cylinders it wont start. I checked my other 2 skis on how fast the fuel flows through inline filter and on gts I made a funnel with a hose and added fuel straight to filter when hitting start it sucks fuel from the filter but still wont start. I even checked the return line on carb and when starting it pushes gas back to the tank. Any other thoughts on this maybe im missing something?

The first thing I would check it to see if you have spark.

Thats been checked. Ive got everything i need to make it start fuel(manually) compression and spark lol

Did you check to pulse line?

If you have spark and fuel and it is hitting the cylinder at the right time,,,, then it has to be the compression.

As you put fuel into the cylinder manually, you KNOW you have fuel, you said you have good spark...

With fuel spark and compression it will run. I have to think it is low on compression. However,,, it could be a timing issue and you would get decreased compression but normally get some fuel burning but not well enough to run due to the timing.

Fouled plugs? if you stored it with storage oil, then went to start it with old gas and flooded it.. That would do it.

I've seen engines crank up and run on 80 psi. (rotax sled engines) ran like crap but ran. so i would be leaning towards a weak coil/bad wires or fouled plugs. Does it try to start or kick over? or just crank?

Put a few drops in the cylinder directly. I'm betting you lost the rotary valve gear.

I havent really messed with it anymore but ocod on the pulse line its connected and since ive been putting fuel into filter manually I think it defeats the pulse line so I think I can rule that out.

Coastiejoe when I started and ran it over fall after doing carbs and lines its coming back to me that compression was over 140s closer to 145 so maybe your onto something.

Birks ive put a new set of plugs in already and cut wires back but maybe like you were saying a weak coil. I know when my xp snagged a ring land and piston split at top it was 90 psi and it sounded more like it was going to start then my gts. Sounds like your trying to start it with plugs in and wires off.

Smc ive never really messed with rv gears or had one apart all I know them if the seals go bad it shoots oil out of plug holes and makes a mess

Pull the plugs and look at them again. Are they wet or dry? With the plugs out, crank the engine over. Does anything come out?

I went back outside today for a few and messed with ski. Tried same thing as before but this time I got it to crank over and start. It sucked the gas from the filter as it should actually super fast ive currently got the idle set up higher then it should be. Shut it off and it went back to no start and it wasnt sucking fuel from filter this time. Im trying to keep this ski with no money into it but looks like carb might have to come back apart

From what you're saying it sounds like you've got an air leak, check over your work especially the base gaskets on the carbs.

Yep. Base gaskets will kill you. Especially if they get pinched or anything. And FYI to OP, just because you take the carb apart doesnt mean you need a rebuild kit again. The rubber gaskets will re-seal. I only replace gaskets/diaphrams if they are old/hard, or the carb(s) are picky.
Double check the pop off again while its off, and make sure its a clean "pop" not hissing.

Thanks ill have to just replace the base gasket. I never checked pop off pressure when it was off I shouldve but I didnt have a guage with me at the time.
