I just replaced the 587 and took it out for testing. it runs great pulled back in and noticed that when you turn the pump all the way to right or left water flows back through the suckie things that take the water out (bulge pumps ) then boggs down. I have not found a thing on this in the manual on this or can see anything on why this would back feed. Then i have to wait to clear the water out and then runs great again. What am i missing? these pwc dont seem to hard to figure out. There so fun and enjoy it so much any thing you know that little trick or something to help me :stupid:

Hey man, I just got a free 89 model, I have to put it back togather (carb) but it like you said, dont look too tough to figure this thing out. Are you able to post any pics of your carb side? I have alot of lines in there and good pics are worth a thousand manuals. Also, what battery do you use? I dont even have one in mine.
Hope I can help you in the future

not sure about the carb but all seadoo's run the 16 CLB available @ walmart or cosco or most autoparts stores about $45.00

those bilge pump things are plastic and 20 years ol now who knows i would recomend replacing them or cleaning them out and replacing the lines it wouldnt be bad to just run an eletric boat one

did you have the pump off the ski??
you need to check the area between the pump nozzle and the pump housing
the bilge lines should start at the bottom of the hull, at the suckie things
then they need to run up high at the back of the hull
then they go back down to the pipes that exit the hull
when these two passages pass thru the pump, they are two little o rings that make the seal between the pump housing and the pump nozzle
if they are missing or this area is corroded
water pressure from the pump will force its way back thru these lines
these bilge lines end at the pump nozzle and sit in a area of low pressure
low pressure is a suction, if there is a breach in its path thru the pump, then it can get pressure.
also check the very end of the pump nozzle were the bilge lines end
mid year sea doos had little plastic pipes that would fall out of the nozzle and cause this too. not sure of your year
hope this helps
good luck

I have a 1997 Sea Doo XP, I bought it last summer with a blown motor. I put a new motor in it this winter, rebuilt the carbs, new battery, and new gas. The problem is it wonrt even beep when you put in the key. How can I tell if the MPEM is good before I take it the ripoffship dealership?
