Runs fine till you try to open it up all the way then it bogs down and wants to stall. Dosent stall every time but still wont max out the rpms. Also had it out yesterday and was riding and it died all the sudden and now when i hit the start button the solenoid just clicks and starter wont engage tightened all connections and stilll nothing. any ideas for either probs.
Thank a bunch for the help

well i just replaced the starter 2 weeks ago but i guess i forgot to mention that a couple days ago i just about sunk it on the bay a water line came unhooked and water was up to the carbs but not over them so maybe the styarter got wet huh but then wouldnt i have problems with it soon after not a week after it happened starter was fine till the other day when the ski died on the lake and what do you mean by LOWER THE POP OFF could you elaborate pleze thanks for the help

pop-off is the relation of the spring tention and atmoshereic pressure to open the needle valve. refilling the metering cavity. i am thinking yours is too high and its emptying the cavity when at wot. lowering the po will let more gas in.

So.... starter got water damage, maybe water in the E-box to. Water = electricals = problems! Open & clean.

no water in box cuz i have it sealed and it wasnt even near the water since the older ones have the e box above the batt. i took it apart already and it was bone dry. I also forgot to mention that if i touch the posts on the solenoid together with a screwdriver it just arcs and the starter will not engage or even click but if i touch the posts together and hit the start button it dosent arc till i let off the start button. Im really confused so any input is really appreciated i open to any and all suggestions. ps is it normal that the starter worked fine for a week or so after getting wet

Hope you can fix the starter. onlyseadoo.com sells starter repair kits, but if the armuture or fields have shorted out, a cleaning will not fix it.
Could a brush melted loose.

possibly but you would think that being that its a brand new starter thast it would be somewhat water tight but i guess not i spent 3 days putting that thing on and now its bad again ill tell you what man dont ever buy an 89 they suck to work on especially the starter. im still confused as to why it just died on me and then all the sudden the starter dont work i fail to see the connection any ideas

I'm Bettin the seal leaked on the stator cover and you got water inthe stator. As far as the starter goes they are supposed to be some what water proof but it it stays under water for very long even a new one will get water in it

but it ran fine for a week after the water was in there and i drained it so i cant see that being the prob but im so lost with this thing. It sees like every time that i ride it it breaks.
