18' Seadoo Challenger

Hi everyone, a couple of quick questions. I'm considering buying an 18' Challenger. I live in Newfoundland Canada, that's the cold frigid Atlantic. I'm planning to use the boat on calm days on the ocean near the land in less than 3foot seas.

What do you think of a challenger as opposed to something more like a small Bayliner or a Doral v-hull type boat? Which would be more stable in the 3-foot chop we normally have here?

Also can you leave a challenger in the salt-water all summer like if I have a birth at the marina?

Thanks!!

If you are out in moderate chop on a regular basis, you won't like the challenger 180. It tends to take on a lot of water over the bow. You really should find something with a deeper V.

OK, Thanks RFoster130, I put in an offer on the challenger knowing I will be limited to only the calmest days for fun times...if the seller doesn't bite, I'll get a deeper V. What do you think a good price for a 2009 180 Challenger 215hp with only 14 hours on it should sell for in Canada? I offered $17k
Thanks.

Thats seems to be a decent price. Around here i would try to stay under 15,000, so I'm betting in Canada that is decent.

Thanks, that's about what I figured too, the guy is asking $22k so I doubt he'll drop all the way to the reasonable $17k. (a new 2012 180 here is about $24k),

A new 2012 is 24K and he wants 22K for a 2009.....he's crazy.
Probably he is asking 22 and hoping someone will offer 18-19 for it.....you might just get it.

Good luck in whatever you buy. I visited your town once with my travel club the "Nomads", enjoyed the visit.
