Looking to buy a 150 speedster what is the difference between the 215 hp and the 255 Hp is the extra 40 hp worth it ?

I had the 215hp 150 sportster before, and had plenty of power to pull skiers, tubing and alround good performance. I think for me I would have gone with the 255hp if I had a chance at the time, just for the factor of saying that I had 255hp, instead of the 215hp. As far as performance don't think you would really know the difference, the 255hp would probably give you a few miles per hour more on WOT, and may have alittle quicker response, is that worth the extra 40hp, that is something you have to ask yourself, they both have the supercharger that has to be maintained equally, maybe the difference is price between the two, I think it would come down to saying to your friends that I have the 255hp or the 215hp.

Seadoomike is right. It's a little boat with +200 HP. it's going to be fast and fun. Sure... it will give you a little extra up top, but since they both have the same pump... there may not even be an acceleration difference. Not to mention, it will burn more fuel at WOT. But lets face it... who runs the boat wide open. I like to go fast, but even my little 85hp sportstrer... once on a plane... I pull it back to about 75% power because the speed between 75% and 100% is only about 3 mph... but the fuel consumption goes from 6~7gph to about 12gph. (that's a lot of $$ for 3 mph)

On the new 4 stroke engines... the 215 hp can drink around 18~19 gph. I've never checked the 255... but I would think it will be approaching the 23~25 gph mark. Here again... for a few mph on the top... you are looking at an extra $16 an hour in fuel if you are holding wide open.

If you want to just say... "I have 255hp in this tiny boat"... buy the cheaper boat, and get the 255 sticker.

I bought the 215 because the 255 wasn't available yet! Would have done it in a heart beat! Down the road a bit, it is like selling a Mustang with a 6 cyl engine. Looks good, but can't get out of it's own way. These little boats are designed to go FAST, faster the better! And, I'm 64!

Seedoo Mike have you seen any debadged ? Any pictures any where ? I am going south for a month so i will post them when i get back . I have the black hull and going to start with the seadoo and its graphic on the sides then move up to the letters on the white. I think if will look good with the plain jet black hull. Thinking about a black Bimini top who makes good biminis ?
danny

captdbg, I haven't seen any debadged, something that I would do is, take a side profile picture of the boat with digital camera, load in my computer and open it in paint, and color in the badged areas with the solid color and that would show you how it would look. As far as the bimini, don't know if any one is better than the other, I know that places like west marine and cabela's sell them, I don't know where the better deal is, but Dr Honda has purchased one and he could probably tell you better, maybe he will chime in on that.
