130 vs 155, how to tell the difference besides the stickers

I came across an interesting one today. I own a 2011 GTI SE 130 and was looking to pickup another GTI/Wake but was looking for the 155 engine (by default on the Wake). I found a 2011 GTI SE 155 a little ways from where I live so I went and checked it out. The original owner, only 50 hrs, great shape. The stickers on both sides looked original and they said GTI SE 155. I noticed in the pics before driving over that it did not have the boarding step. I wasn't too worried about that but once there I noticed the menu seemed smaller than my 130 SE, fewer options (realized no VTS after getting home), and then I started wondering how I could confirm it had the 155 engine/tuning. Very hard to tell externally as the engine is the same with different tuning based on my understanding. The title didn't mention engine size so I looked at the Emission Control Sticker under the seat. It listed the Power as 97 kW (converts to 130 hp), the same as my 130. I can't imagine they would put 97 kW for a 155 model but wanted to ask here. Did the 155 models list 97 kW on the emission sticker for Power? It looks to me like the Seado came mismarked from wherever it was purchased as it appeared to have none of the SE characteristics and maybe not even the 155 tuning? Thanks in advance.

Cool, thanks for the confirmation. I still can't believe the stickers didn't match the model of the Seadoo they were on. I don't believe the seller swapped them out but I'm sure stranger things have happened before. A good lesson learned for me at least.

It happens quite a bit. The 155s are worth more.

There are several ways to tell the difference, from hardest to easiest, imo.
1. The camshaft is different between them on the earlier years like yours but not for 170hp models for newer years. Remove the valve cover and cam gear and look at the number on the end of the camshaft.
2. In BUDS, there is a model number on the specs page. Not hard but does require software.
3. The ECU is different between them. Check the part number on the ECU and cross reference.
4. The Emission sticker which you have done. The 130 will be 97kw, the 155 will be either 106kw or 116kw depending on year.
5. The decals but as you have seen is not reliable.
