The lil one's ski went down at the end of saturday's fun...low fuel as well as low volts and a hood breaking at the piston.

The battery started this mornin at 12.77...after a night on the charger. After starting the ski up the meter read 12.5 and falling. Shut it down. I checked the schematic and looked at the three connectors along side the ecu's. Pulled the top one...enough "dialectric grease" lookin stuff was on that one...wiped it off and replaced...checked other two..were dry...replaced both.

Checked battery and read 12.66...started and checked again..reading 13.35. shut it off.

Is it charging now?

Went out and checked again.....12.77 before I started the ski.....14.03 after I start it.

Any electrical pros wanna tell me how bad I fckd up?

10-4...that's what I hope for. You figure any of the three connectors I played with was just ....not doing it's job then?

Connection quality is crucial. Many of the no start issues are simply a poor connection for example.

So yes, I would think you had a poor connection and resolved the issue by cleaning the connections.

Hey Red-

This thread touches an area where I could stand some improvement.... my fundamental grasp of the electrical system/terminology.
When you metered the battery, and it was "at 12.5 and falling" how rapid was the descent?
When you pulled the first connector you "wiped off the grease and replaced" Was the dialectric an inhibitor in this case? Too much of it?
And were the connectors put back in place, or replaced?

Glad it worked out well for ya

I was off the hose so I'm say'n...fallin a tenth every 10sec or so.

I'm assuming it was dielectric...coulda been bear grease or wd40 for all I know...heh..anyway...I swiped a thumb across the face and just put it back in place..same with the dry ones. Maybe it was an inhibitor..maybe it was a hair outa place and I merely pushed it back in farther allowing a better connection. Won't know till this weekend when I can put it in the water for more than a minute or ten.

Yeah...I got my fingers crossed.

What really pissed me off though was the hood breaking at the piston. Another pisspoor design from the great minds at BRP.
