1/4" or 5/16" Fuel Lines

I am working to replace the grey fuel lines on a 1999 GTXL. I bought 1/4" line but can't get it over the fittings on the fuel strainer(stopped here). My hose is marked 8mm which would be perfect for 5/16" fuel line. I had read all the posts for 1/4" line and assumed. The engine is the 951 with dual carbs, does 5/16" make sense?

Yes.....8mm is 5/16". 6mm is 1/4". You can look at the www.seadoowarehouse.com
