I was out running and the ski just died. I had SC done this year and it has been running good. It has 180 hrs. It cranks fine just will not fire. I towed It back in at 5 mph and cranked it every few minutes. No engine light just no start. When I got home I pulled a spark plug and it was bone dry, no trace of fuel smell. As much as I cranked ,I would think I would have some fuel on the plug. Fuel pump fuse is good.. I have service manual that I was going to look at tomorrow. Seems to not be getting fuel. Fuel pump? Any other tips?
Thank you for the help, this forum is great!!

Well, I am not a mechanic but I cranked the engine for a few seconds and pulled a plug and it had fuel on it. then I hooked lead to plug and grounded it and it had spark. Then I put my thumb in spark plug socket and cranked and it did not push my thumb out....... Air comes out of cylinder but i can plug it with my thumb. Sounds like no compression, motor rebuild? Sucks to be me ;)

Rule of thumb! Get a compression test kit. I Intend to get one myself as well and monitor my new engine regularly. 2- stroke or 4-stroke, a motor is a motor. Just was under the impression that a 4-stroke engines would last longer than that because of less risk of having lubrication issues than a 2-stroke.

Post the results from your compression check; ensure the battery is fully charged and the throttle is in the wide open position.

Also perform a fuel pump pressure check.

I will have to borrow a comp tester. I did not have throttle wide open. But i just cranked it withe my finger over spark plug cavity and it did not push my finger out?
