Just bought this lightly used (8 hours) speedster 150 with the 215 HP engine. At idle, in neutral, the boat still want to push forward and you can actually feel the momentum of the boat shift if the wheel is turned left or right. Is that normal? Is it reving too high? I didn't think the jet would be pushing water through at idle. We really have to hang onto the dock to make sure we don't start going and it's pretty hard to actually dock.

Is this the norm? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2007 and the neutral keeps it pretty still just bought a 180SE and it still moves forward in N so I feather the reverse which works fine.

Jet propelled things dont have an actual gearbox. When it is going forward, the water being thrusted out the back makes it move. When you put it in N, their isnt a transmission that stops the turning of the impeller. It is still turning. There is a part that comes down over the back of the pump. It is deflecting the water being pushed out to help keep you from moving. The boat can still move. It actually works better on most of them to put it in reverse instead of neutral. I work the lever back and forth a lot, That usually helps hold it in place. Especially when docking.

There are 2 ways to fix this:
1. Hold the shift lever slightly in reverse just enough to stop the forward pull, but dont step away from the helm when doing so
2. Adjust the reverse bucket to hang down slightly more when in neutral, but not enough to impede water flow when in forward. This is not possible on all boats.
