Had to get under the boat to remove a rope that got sucked into the intake. After clearing the rope I noticed the drive shaft cover appears to be pulling away from the hull. I can’t imagine this just started happening but want to know how much of a concern this is as I’m unsure what is going on under the cover.

Sorry, pictures did not initially attach. Here they are.

The driveshaft guard is not meant to be sealed as it is just there to prevent the rope from pushing up through the carbon seal and popping it out, putting a golf ball sized hole and sinking your boat.

They stopped using them at some time after 07.

I would have never been sealed to the hull and is only held on with the 2 bolts.

If it performs fine, I would just leave it as you need to pull the pump off to remove/replace it.

Great, thanks for the feedback. I wasn’t sure if it has been like that for the past 10 years or if it just happened when the rope got pulled while wrapped around the guard. Much appreciated!
