My bilge pump won't run, checked all the fuses they seem good, only one 3AMP keeps blowing. Any ideas Thanks Simon

it could be that the pump is bad/shorted... maybe that 3 amp fuse is for the bilge pump?
Try bypassing the elec system... pull the pump out of the boat and run wires direct from the pump to a battery. If it runs, you need to check other stuff, but if you just get sparks and no motor spinning, try a new pump.

Don't leave it hooked up to the battery if it is not spinning and you are getting sparks, as if the pump is shorted internally, you could melt wires and start a fire.

There's a reason that fuse is blowing, it is likely because of a shorted wire somewhere or inside the pump.

I just noticed that is a 07 model. If it's under warranty have the dealer replace the bilge and deal with the blown fuse.

Vilord.......

Vilord, I agree that there is a reason for that fuse to be blowing, but we really try not to advocate bypassing the electrical system with jumpers, especially if the motor is still under warranty.

It I were going to test this, I'd get a small gage wire, put a 3 amp fuse link in it, then jumper. The purpose would be to feel the fire, see if it's getting hot. If so, then your right, he has a short somewhere.

You may know that the test you just described is safe for someone familar with electricals and the safety and expense in protecting the mpem and ecm....but others may not be as versed in it as you. If they forget something, then you or one of us may have to share the burden of burning up their mpem..........

First, if it is under warranty, just go to the dealer, that way if they mess anything up its on them :)

If not:

I guess I didn't make one part of my suggestion clear...

If you do decide to try checking the pump direct to a battery, DON'T do it in the boat. If you blow up the pump, you replace a $30 pump, not a $30K boat!
