Hey guys, new to the forums here and my ski.
Bought my 2005 rxp just a few weeks ago from a guy selling locally.
advertised it as running great... which it did.
I was unable to water test it at purchase but got it for a good price.
Here's the low down. 65 hours at purchase, supposedly never had supercharger rebuilt during his 3 year ownership of it. so before doing anything I removed the supercharger and had it rebuilt at a local sea-doo dealer. while picking up the supercharger I gave them the info on the ski and found out it was in for service 3 weeks prior to my purchasing, with a ton of issues. 1) was missing oil filter and screw to housing was loose. 2) high oil pressure at start up, low oil pressure when warm. 3) 1 cylinder down 50psi on a compression test(150psi,150psi,100psi). they changed the oil filter and plugs re tested and no more oil pressure issues.the owner did not want to spend any more money and pulled the plug.
So he neglected to inform me of this. I decided to water test it and it ran great. hit 70mph put about 4 hours on the ski and today while doing my pre inspection before riding noticed the coolant was very low. so I topped it off at the max line and rode for about 30 mins. checked and coolant level was down to the bottom again...
topped it off again to the max line and it was down 2 inches after a short 10 minute run. so I pulled it out of the water as I was afraid of ruining the motor.
she did seem to sputter a bit while putting in to load up at 5mph.
SO I took her home and pulled the seat. no coolant in the bilge and ran a compression test. each cylinder had 130psi. plugs do not look bad or wet nor are they discolored as a sign of burning coolant. Oil is nice and clean no coolant in the oil system. I didn't notice any exhaust smoke of any sort and cannot figure out why this is happening. I do how ever have little black specs in the overflow bottle. I have a feeling i will be replacing the head gasket.
