I have picked up a 05 3-d form a guy who was fed up with it. He said it died shut off on him out in the water and would not turn over. He tried jumping the solenoid with a screw driver and got it to turn over but still would not fire. ( Yes I know...Idiot) I have put a new battery in it. When I Attatch the Lanyard I get the 2 short beeps then one long BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! The Warning light is on and stays on even after I remove the lanyard... Any advice on where to start looking? I have checked all fuses. Thanks in advance!!

3D starting problem

Sounds like you have the same problem I have. I have found out the MPEM has a factory defect that causes it to lose memory and the symptoms are not always the same. Mine beeps but wont start, took it to the dealer and they replaced the key and re-programed the MPEM. It worked once and then lost memory of the key that was just programed to the machine. Let me know if you want to try and have the MPEM replaced by BRP due to a factory defect.

Was there ever a solution to this? I get one click when I try to turn mine over (just bought it) and it doesnt turn over. The lights are also on as well

If you get two beeps when you put the lanyard on, then when pushing the start/stop button, you only get one click, do you get a beep again right after? If so, this could be a dirty lanyard or even a bad post. But, from what you just said, it sounds like it's either the starter or solenoid.

Trace the positive wire from your battery. You'll be looking for your electrical box. If you already know where it is, just remove the cover to expose the solenoid. Put the lanyard on your post and be sure to hear two beeps. Now, jump the two large, red lead wires you see attached to the solenoid. If you've never jumped a solenoid, take two screwdrivers and hold each of them to the terminals attaching the wires. Then, with one quick movement, put the screwdrivers together. This will minimize the arc. If the motor turns over, the solenoid is bad. If it continues to click, the starter could be bad.

Before pulling the starter, check your engine ground wire. A loose connection to ground will also cause the clicking.
