About a mile from shore the engine stopped.

I was able to restart it a couple of times for about 5 seconds each then it conked out.

It sounded like the engine wasn't getting any gas when I continued to try to restart it. Then I got two very loud, very long beeps. Definitely plenty of gas and oil on board.

It was a long swim back to the dock.

Any suggestions? Worth fixing? Any salvage value?

I hadn't used it in 5+ years (it lived in the heated garage) and was quite excited that it had three great runs last week when I re-launched it.

DI's are very sensitive with fuel pressure and there are filters on the fuel pump that can clog. Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you insert the key? After that check fuel pressure (google how - lots of threads on it).

I am currently not at my computer but if I remember correctly long beeps indicate overheating.
Maybe check the temp sensor.

Could be as simple as the rectifer. Low Battery. etc. Do some checks and good luck !!

I've a couple of DIs apart right now so if you have any questions I may be able to help. I'm not a guru though.... just work my way through problems. Ha Ha. I think those RXs are Hella cool and I really like the way the DIs run. Awesome !!

We tried it a couple of times again yesterday. At first it happily ran for about 30 seconds at idle speed. When we tried to give it much more power it died quickly. After a few restart attempts it would run again at idle speed for a few seconds then die again. No error beeps at all, but still not reliable enough to take more than a small distance away from the dock...

Are you getting a maint light?

Do you hear the fuel pump priming when the key is on the dess post?? You may need to test the fuel and air pressure. Its possible the fuel pump is going/gone......

What is the best method for checking the fuel and air pressure.? Is there a test kit for it or do you have to make something?. I'd like something that I can test everything.

I bought a fuel pressure tester from amazon, BETOOLL 0-140PSI Fuel Injector... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VV29NHM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share, it works well. I compared it with another one a friend had and the psi was the same. I hook it up in place of the big gray fuel filter to get my readings. As for the air pressure you have to rig something up for the line coming up out of the pump. Works well for me.
Thanks for the link - just ordered one to help diagnose some issues on my DI!

Got a picture of your genius rig for the air pressure test? I was hoping there was "an all in one rig" for the DI. :D Thanks for the link. I saw something a while back specific for the DI. I"ll have a look again. I have a pressure testor rig that is nice.. I was hoping for something that could test at the same time the ski is running.

I have a used parts fuel module for the DI and I'll use those fittings to make a rig I guess. I gotta do something because I need to check a couple of skis. Touchdowns Everyone !!! :D :D

There are some special part numbers for various tools in the service manual - one for fuel, another for air. But to my knowledge they are not available to the public and if you can find one they are likely $$$. I have a tee for my pressure gauge and plan to run it inline to measure fuel pressure during operation - at least that is my plan for the weekend!

Like waarreagle said, I also have a tee that came with the fuel pressure gauge. I just use that with 2 hose clamps, I’ll have to take a pic of the air pressure setup when I get down to my skis next weekend. As for the air, I had to use some beefier clamps only because there’s quite a bit more pressure in the lines with wit hose small diameter hoses. The first time I did it the hoses popped off from the clamps.
