02 GTX 4tec turns over as soon as I put the key on

My beloved seadoo left me stranded this weekend.

The engine starts turning as soon as the key gets near the dess post. I don't even have to snap the key on. I do not have to push the start button.

It will not fire up, just turns forever and gives a long beep. the gauges do not show anything.

All this leads me to the dess post being bad potentially? Thoughts?

Probably not the post. Check your start button circuit. Last time I saw that it ended up being a bad ECU.

A bad ECU is the only thing that makes sense to me too unfortunately.

If it was a bad dess circuit then it would not turn over because the ECU thinks it has the wrong key. If it was a faulty starter circuit then maybe it would fire up without the button with just the key.

My ski does neither

Ecu have had a few skis do that when the key is close you here the tops click then turn over.pull the wires out of the switch side of solenoid then probe the solenoid to see if solenoid is putting voltage thru.

Just a follow up. Got a new ecu in with a reprogrammed key and we’re back up and running. Sucks that it failed and left me stranded with no notice but was a relatively simple failure/fix.
