I recently bought an 02 4 tec GTX. I noticed it was burning up oil when I would check it in between uses. So far over the season I put almost a full quart in. Is this typical for an older seadoo? I'm thinking about adding an oil additive to help with worn piston rings, but im not sure if that's a good idea. I would rather get it fixed so I don't have to worry about it. The local seadoo dealers wont work on models older than 10 years.
Im hoping the engine doesn't have to be rebuilt to replace the piston rings.

It doesn't smoke much and the smoke doesn't seem to be blue, more white.

How concerned should I be about this issue?
Any idea where I can take it to service in Northern KY?

Thanks!

Do a compression test and make note of the pressures.

Put a good squirt of oil into the cylinder and do another compression test. If it raises it is normally the rings. If it does not or very little, it is a valve issue.

ok, I pulled the plugs. I noticed #2 spark plug had oil on the tip when I pulled it out. Did the compression test all 3 cylinders tested very well, i would think, around 180psi. I thought #2 would test low, but they all about matched. Replaced with new plugs... now what? How else would oil get into the cylinder?

Valve seals

I agree with Ubiquity, seems to be valve seals.
Did you leave the ski without run for a long period?

What did you mean. By you "THINK" around 180. Did you use a gauge?

I hate these dealers. When you manufacture a product, you stand by them. I have a pristine Ford Focus 2003. You think the dealer will refuse me???? No way.
