01's GTX DI's Fuel Problems

Hello: I have two GTX's DI's, and both have a similar problem. I took the fuel pumps out of the take to replace the filters because of fuel presure going away after about 30 seconds of running. Well ordered the filters and had to wait about a week to get them and the fuel pumps just sat on the bench. I replaced the filters and inline filter on the first on and couldn't get any presure or fuel flow. I removed the pump and installed the other one with same problem. I would'nt think that these pumps need to be primed. "Do they"?. Can anyone out there in Seadoo land help me. Thanks
