x hello all-I'm new and am seeking an answer. The last time I took my 01 GTX DI out last season, the seadoo fell on its face when I would throttle it. I feathered the gas upwards in rpms as to try and clear it out. It eventually started to run better but it wouldn't go over about 35mph. I was running the gas down so I couldn't spend much more time riding it. This week I changed the plugs, installed a new battery(cables were disconnected for an hour which I hoped would clear any codes) and also put over 12 gallons of fresh premium fuel in it and took it to the lake. In the water it fired right up and ran perfect but alas would not go over about 35mph yet again. Someone help me please!

What were the max engine RPMs? Specifically, did the engine rev up fast but the ski didn't accelerate?

Two base items you should do is a compression test and fuel pump pressure test. Fuel pressure is VERY critical to DI ski's.

It wouldn't go over 6700rpms roughly. The day it acted up did seem to be a fuel problem. So u guys are already thinking the pump? Is that hard to replace?

not a fuel pump problem, it's a jet pump problem. 6700 rpms is very high for only 35 mph. it sounds like you shredded your wear ring or have something stuck in the pump.

The jet pump was new last year when I bought the seadoo. The owner showed me how there was no wear and it was new but I'll inspect it for something stuck in it

New is only new when it is good. They are pretty tough but it only takes a small item to wipe them out.

I thoroughly checked the jet pump over. Thru the grate into the interior part. No foreign objects. Also checked clearance at the fins. Very small gap, but clean and unscathed. I might add that I have 2 keys. 1 that lets it go 35 and the other 55. I can tell no difference in speed between the 2. My Speedo doesn't work but I don't think that affects the engine. But does this at all sounds like a computer / sensor problem? Do these seadoos have a 'limp in'mode?

Take it for another ride. Just to make sure there wasn't something in the pump area that fell out when you pulled the ski.

OK the pump and wear ring check good. What about driveshaft splines?
JMHO it needs to come apart and be checked.

4000rpms max in limp mode

My GTX DI's did just a tick over 52 mph @ 6900, something doesn't make sense. The DI's will run pretty smooth on one cylinder BTW, but sure should be a lot less RPMS'
