so to start out this is the first jetboat that i have owned. i have had jetski's and boats in the past though. wondering if there is anything i need to know before the season starts. i got boat with a blown motor, a new one will be installed in the next week or so. i have a few main questions to start, first question is there a way to check my wear ring before without taking the jet drive off or putting it in water to find theres an issue. also wondering what the minimum recommed water depth is for this boat. my is an 01 sportster le, it is a carb modle 951 motor. also is there a recommend impeller to upgrade to that is a great all round impeller. thanks for the help in advance

Just look in the pump. You want less than 0.040" gap between the ring, and the impeller.
A good upgrade is a Skat-Trak "Swirl" impeller. (Get the recommended pitch)
I think the official depth is 12" of water... but it depends on how you are driving, and what is on the bottom. If it's a sandy bottom... I wouldn't be running full throttle in shallow water. (you will suck up the sand, and clog the cooling system) But, at lower speeds, you would be fine.
